MNML
Transmissions
in collaboration with Cristóbal Balenciaga Museoa
2020

MNML Transmissions was developed in collaboration with the Cristóbal Balenciaga Museoa, engaging with the key ideas of Minimalism as they apply to fashion: reduction of surface, purity of line, essential structure, and precision of execution.

Material selection drives the design. Mohair wool and heavy silk twill were chosen for their weight, texture, and movement, each determining the volume and relationship between body and cloth.

The outer coat was developed through a moulding process, using the form as both structural starting point and site of material exploration. The dress is constructed on a zero-waste principle, built from square pieces placed on the bias and stitched together to drape over the body with precision.
