A Tale
In collaboration with David’s Collection Museum, Copenhagen
2020

A Tale was developed in collaboration with David’s Collection Museum, Copenhagen, in response to a richly adorned water pipe from the late eighteenth century Mughal Empire, held in the museum’s Islamic collection.
The project translates the visual language of the artefact into a series of wearable pieces: the Book Dress, cut to a zero-waste pattern in deadstock coated cotton; the Continuous Glove, printed with a scene from the original object; Tangled Sandals in natural rubber, recycled tanned leather, and Lycra; and Lump Earrings in papier-mâché, whose weight belies their appearance.
